Alhaji Mainasara Bindawa, father of Prof. Kurfi laid to rest at 94

Alhaji Mainasara Ahmad Bindawa, father of Professor Mainasara Y. Kurfi, the immediate past Head of the Department of Mass Communication at Bayero University, Kano, who passed away at 94, was laid to rest on Friday.

SolaceBase reports that the elder statesman and traditional titleholder of Ajiyan Maradin Katsina died on Thursday night in Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State.

He is survived by two wives, twenty children, and over one hundred grandchildren, many of whom continue to uphold the values and principles he stood for.

The funeral prayer (Janazah) was held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. in Kurfi town, attracting a large gathering of mourners, including religious scholars, academics, traditional leaders, government officials, and members of the public, who came together to honour his memory and offer prayers for his soul.

News of his passing was announced by his son, Professor Kurfi, through his official Facebook page and shared widely across several WhatsApp groups.

In his message, Prof. Kurfi expressed deep grief over the loss and requested continued prayers for his late father.

Alhaji Mainasara Ahmad Bindawa will be remembered as a symbol of integrity, devotion, and community strength — a beacon whose influence extended far beyond his immediate environment.
