JUST IN: Reps Majority leader, Alhassan Doguwa arrested at Kano airport

Kano Police Command on Tuesday arrested and detained Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Dogowa,in connection with alleged Murder and arson at Tudun Wada LGA office of New Nigeria Peoples Party on Sunday after the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

A very reliable source confirmed to SOLACEBASE on Tuesday that the lawmaker was arrested on his way to Saudi Arabia for Lesser Hajj.

‘’He was arrested at the international wing of the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport by the Department of State Services and later handed over to the police.

‘’As I speak with you, he is undergoing interrogation at the Criminal Investigation Department, Bompai Police Headquarters, the source told SOLACEBASE.

‘’ We were informed this afternoon that one of the victims of the attack at Tudun Wada died at the hospital.’’

SOLACEBASE recalls that Kano Police Command on Sunday said four suspects were arrested over the attack at Tudun Wada as two persons were confirmed dead.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Kano Police Spokesman, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, on Sunday.

The statement read, ‘’Also, on the same date at about 1600hrs, reports were received that, while the collation of results was ongoing at Tudun Wada LGA INEC Office, a group of thugs in large numbers mobilized and attacked the Campaign Office of NNPP House of Representatives Candidate and sets the building ablaze with two unknown persons in a stationary Motor Vehicle inside the building burnt to death as a result of the inferno. The hoodlums again mobilize and attempted to block the road leading to the INEC Office. Security personnel were immediately mobilized to the scene. One of the thugs was fatally injured and was rushed to Hospital where he died while receiving treatment. Four other suspected thugs were arrested, as well. An Investigation is in progress.’’

However, at a news conference on Tuesday, Alhassan Ado Dogowa had denied involvement in the attack and burning of NNPP campaign office, accusing the party of complicity.

SOLACEBASE efforts to speak with the Police imagemaker, Abdullahi Kiyawa was not successful as his phone line was not connecting.
