Manchester United draw 1-1 with Chelsea
Manchester United interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy has expressed disappointment with the club’s draw against Chelsea.
United were held to a 1-1 draw by Enzo Maresca’s Blues at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The home side took the lead in the 70th minute courtesy of Bruno Fernandes, who converted from the spot-kick. United were awarded the penalty after Robert Sanchez was judged to have brought down Rasmus Hojlund.
However, the lead lasted for only four minutes as Moises Caicedo rifled in home a powerful shot to ensure the points were shared.
The result has left the Red Devils in 13th position, with 12 points gained from a possible 30.
After the match, Van Nistelrooy spoke to Sky Sports and gave his verdict on the match. In particular, the Dutchman pinpointed the team’s wastefulness as something that eventually cost them.

Alejandro Garnacho had multiple chances to score but was wasteful and failed to make any of them stick. Marcus Rashford and Fernandes also had opportunities but failed to add to the team’s goal tally.
Van Nisterooy said, “I am disappointed we didn’t win, we had the better of the chances in the game but overall the performance was fantastic. They left their all out there on the pitch.”
“It was a great moment, the goal, when Old Trafford explodes. Bruno Fernandes did well taking it and the emotion came out.”
He once again reiterated that his focus is on managing the upcoming matches until Ruben Amorim officially takes over on November 11.
“This week has been special, I have enjoyed every second of it. I am here to help and will get behind the new manager and make sure the club grows.”
“We are behind the new manager, everyone at the new club is focusing on the two games that are coming which are very important but then we will work hard to make this club better every day.”
Up next for United is a Europa League clash against PAOK on Thursday.
