Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) has called for the need to harmonize the salary structure of medical lecturers in Nigerian Universities as significant differences that exist in medical lecturers across institutions in the country.
The Provost College of Health Sciences Bayero University Kano, Professor Ibrahim Adamu Yakasai made the call in an opening remark as chairman of a virtual National Executive Council meeting of Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria meeting holding in Kano.
Represented by the Deputy Provost of the college professor Aliyu Abdu, he said the association will continue to pursue the matter at the national level for equity and fairness to be restored.
He added that the association which is the largest specialist medical association in West African sub-region has the responsibility of ensuring unity and harmony in the healthcare delivery industry.

In his address, the MDCAN national President Professor Kenneth N. Ozoilo stated that the theme of the meeting ‘Medical practice in the era of emerging infectious diseases’ has been carefully selected taking into consideration the current scourge of COVID-19 globally.
He added that the meeting is targeted at assessing the weaknesses and the strength of the new methodologies adopted as well as ways to improve on as a collective member’s effort in the business of saving lives.
