2024: Mikel Merino agrees personal terms with Arsenal

Personal terms have been agreed between Spain’s Euro 2024 winner Mikel Merino and Arsenal.

This comes according to Italian journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Fabrizio disclosed that Arsenal have continued talks with Real Sociedad over the structure and fee for the midfielder, who has 12 months remaining on his contract.

It was gathered that the deal is thought to be edging closer for Merino after he was left out of Sociedad’s squad for their latest pre-season friendly.

Another Spaniard linked to Arsenal is Merino’s Sociedad teammate Martin Zubimendi but he is believed to be heading to Liverpool.

Part of Arsenal’s reasoning for allowing Zubimendi to pursue a move to Liverpool is due to Mikel Arteta’s side pushing for a deal for Merino.
