Muhammad from Yobe emerges winner of 28th National Qur’anic recitation competition

Muhammad Muhammad Sani from Yobe State has emerged as the overall winner of the 28th annual National Quranic Recitation Competition, which concluded on Saturday in Kano State.

SolaceBase reports that for seven days, participants competed in various categories, showcasing their memorization, pronunciation, and understanding of the Quran.

Muhammad impressed the judges with his flawless recitation and mastery of the entire Quran, securing the top position with a score of 99.

Winners across all categories received various prizes, including cars, cash rewards, motorcycles and Islamic books.

The competition was organized by the Directorate of Education of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah wa’ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) under the leadership of Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir.

Speaking at the event, the National Coordinator of the competition, Al-Hafiz Aminu Yusuf Nuhu, stated that this was the second time the competition had been held in Kano State in 17 years.

Nuhu who explained the process of the competition said that participants must pass through at least five stages, starting from the ward level, local government level, and state level, before reaching the national level.

He further mentioned that 100,032 participants from 24 states, as well as participants from the Republic of Niger and Ghana, took part in the competition.

The 16th Fulani Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, expressed gratitude to Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir, the National Chairman of the JIBWIS Ulama’u Council, for his exceptional leadership of the association and for bringing the competition to Kano.

Sanusi emphasized that Kano State is renowned for its Islamic activities and da’wah (religious outreach).

 He congratulated the winners on their remarkable achievement. The Emir also urged the Muslim community to maintain peace and peaceful coexistence, acknowledging the numerous challenges facing Muslims worldwide.

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf represented by Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, appreciated the organizers of the competition and presented a donation of 50 million Naira to the organizing committee for their important work.

He assured the organizers that the Kano State Government would always be willing to host future recitation competitions and provide any necessary assistance.

In his remarks, the National Chairman of the JIBWIS Ulama’u Council, Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir, expressed gratitude to the Kano State Government for hosting the event.

Jingir also acknowledged the significant contributions of Bayero University Kano and its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, for their support of the competition.

He emphasized the importance of Quran memorization and recitation for every Muslim, urging parents to encourage their children in this endeavour.

He also highlighted the significance of unity among the Muslim community, emphasizing the brotherhood and sisterhood of all Muslims worldwide.
