Muhuyi Magaji hands over to acting chairman of Kano anti-corruption commission
The immediate past Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Barr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado has officially handed over leadership of the Commission to Barrister Hafsat Ada’u Kutama, the newly appointed Secretary and Legal Adviser, who will now serve as Acting Chairman.
Rimingado disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, following the handover ceremony which took place on Friday.
“Yesterday, 1st of August, 2025, I officially handed over the affairs of the Commission to Barr. Hafsat Ada’u Kutama, the newly appointed Secretary/Legal Adviser, who will also serve as Acting Chairman until the screening of the newly appointed Chairman is completed,” Rimingado stated.
He expressed satisfaction in leaving the Commission in what he described as “capable hands” appointed by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
“It gives me peace of mind to hand over to capable hands — individuals appointed by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf,” he said.

He further added that, “I’m sincerely grateful to His Excellency for the opportunity to serve under his leadership. His support and trust in me have meant a great deal, and I will always appreciate it.”

Rimingado also thanked the management staff of the Commission for their kind words and support during his tenure.

“I want to acknowledge and deeply appreciate the kind words from the management staff who accompanied the new Secretary/Legal Adviser during the handover.
“Your words truly meant a lot to me. I’m proud to have worked alongside such dedicated and professional individuals. Serving with you has been an honour.”
He concluded the statement by congratulating both Barr. Kutama and the incoming substantive Chairman, Mr. Saidu Yahaya, expressing confidence in their ability to lead the Commission with integrity.
“I am confident that they will uphold the integrity and mandate of the Commission, and I pray for their success throughout their tenure.”
Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado has been a notable figure in the fight against corruption in Kano and also served in the role under Abdullahi Ganduje’s administration.
