N2.3bn Land Scam: Kano anti-graft commission arrests suspect

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has confirmed the arrest of one Musa Ahmed for allegedly selling 632 government occupancy permits for residential plots worth N2.3 billion across the state.

The Commission chairman, Barr Muhuyi Magaji Rimingadio, announced this on Tuesday at a news conference.

Rimingado said the suspect was apprehended at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport shortly after arriving from Saudi Arabia.

The anti-graft agency boss explained that the suspect sold the plots for about N2.5 million each to individuals in Challawa in the Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state.

He said the suspect was also discovered to have sold choice plots of land to residents at Dawanau in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of the state.

“We are currently investigating the suspect and how he was allocated 632 residential plots by the past administration and was allegedly sold to different individuals in the state,” Rimingado said.

The anti-graft boss said the suspect, would soon be charged to court after the completion of investigation.
