NAFDAC workers suspend indefinite strike

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) workers under the auspices of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) have suspended their indefinite strike, which began on October 7, 2024.

The decision follows a constructive meeting with the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

SolaceBase reports that Comrade Salih Aledeh, Secretary of the MHWUN NAFDAC branch while announcing the suspension of the strike on Friday, in a statement, expressed gratitude to Nuhu Ribadu for his intervention and commitment to resolving the union’s concerns.

According to him, “NAFDAC staff hold him in high regard and are eager to see the positive outcomes of his promises,”

He said Ribadu recognized the essential role of NAFDAC in maintaining national security and public health.

He assured union representatives that he would expedite the approval process for their demands and collaborate closely with the relevant authorities to provide necessary support.

Aledeh added, “We appreciate the National Security Adviser’s understanding of NAFDAC’s importance in maintaining national security and public health. We look forward to seeing tangible progress on our demands and are committed to working with the management to ensure a harmonious work environment.”

The union leader said all union members are directed to resume work on Monday, October 28, 2024.

”This resolution is a positive sign for both NAFDAC’s staff and the broader public that relies on the agency’s critical services,” the statement said.
