NDC appoints Osa Director as publicity secretary, names Peter Ekele, Lawal Ibrahim as deputies
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC)has appointed Osa Director as its National Publicity Secretary, while Peter Agbo Ekele and Lawal Sabo Ibrahim were named Deputy National Publicity Secretaries.
The appointments, announced by the party leadership, are part of efforts to strengthen the NDC’s communication team and public engagement strategy ahead of its future political activities.
In a statement signed by the National Working Committee of the Nigeria Democratic Congress on Saturday, the party said the appointments reflect its commitment to building “a formidable communication architecture driven by professionalism, integrity, intellectual depth and unwavering dedication to democratic ideals.”

SolaceBase reports that Osa Director, is a journalist, lawyer and pro-democracy advocate, is bringing decades of experience in media, law and democratic activism. He rose to national prominence during the pro-democracy struggle as a reporter with TELL Magazine and was detained during the military regime of Sani Abacha.

The statement noted that he later co-founded INSIDER WEEKLY Magazine and established Osa Director & Co., while remaining active in professional bodies such as the Nigerian Bar Association and the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
Peter Ekele, a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, has worked with New Nigerian, National Accord and LEADERSHIP Newspapers. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of The Cabal Newspaper.
Lawal Sabo Ibrahim studied at the University of Jos and Bayero University Kano. He has worked as a lecturer at Kano State Polytechnic and served in editorial roles at Peoples Daily and LEADERSHIP Newspapers, before leading Triumph Publishing Company from 2017 to 2023.

The party said it is confident that the combined experience and expertise of the three appointees will strengthen its communication with Nigerians and help advance its vision for an inclusive and prosperous nation.
