Next Year at Aso Rock: Our birthday wish for PYO – Bashir Suwaid
By Bashir Suwaid
Come March 8th, Nigerians will be celebrating the birthday of a great human being, a great and true leader and a symbol of success, who has been pivotal in changing history and reshaping the image of Nigeria at different times in the last 7 years.
As the Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo celebrates his 65th Birthday come 8th March, there’s no greater birthday gift PYO will present to Nigerians than declaring to contest for President come 2023.
Nigeria is grateful for your heart, your decency, your love of the country, your love of people, and your principled leadership and vision to redeem the image of Nigeria alongside President Muhammadu Buhari and we won’t be more happier than presenting us with the gift of hope, restoration and continuity by declaring your interest to contest for the exalted position of President during the 2023 elections.
PYO’s 65th birthday offers Nigeria a chance to reflect on its past, contemplate its present and look towards a future indelibly shaped by the nation’s Vice President alongside President Buhari.
Rather than bring gifts and shower gifts, tributes and encomiums to the Vice President, Nigerians should consider extending calls and supporting Professor Yemi Osinbajo to continue the works started by President Buhari.
Prof. Osinbajo is well loved and regarded in the country not only for his loyalty to the president all this time but also for the awe of his academic achievements.
The “healthy, vigorous” man who was “fit to successfully execute the duties of the presidency, to include those as chief executive, head of state and commander-in-chief, has won a reputation as a unifier and detribalised Nigerian willing to fold his sleeves, get in the mud and get the job done. This perception coupled with his ardent loyalty to President Buhari will galvanize Nigerians’ support particularly the North for his candidacy.
I am of the view that Prof. Yemi Osinbajo if supported and subsequently elected as Nigeria’s President come 2023 will bring his best to bear given the intricacies of the current politics. If given the opportunity, PYO will surely bring his wherewithal to tackle the perennial and emergent problems of the country’s socio- political life. Proof of his ability were his performance when president Buhari went on medical vacation, and he acted in his stead, making seemingly controversial decisions that were very progressive.
PYO has the “integrity, competence and track record” to lead this country, as he has all the qualities needed in order to govern, in spades.
Osinbajo is a bridge between past and contemporary leaders. More than that, he positioned himself as a political leader whose rhetoric and vision will frame the nation as a patchwork quilt of diverse communities that will grow stronger by recognizing the common ground of citizenship and dignity that united us.
Keenly aware of our historic divisions, conflicts and disagreements that perpetually threatened to undermine the country, Vice President Osinbajo will surely make Nigeria a place of endless possibilities, thus his 65th birthday calls us to reflect on the seemingly vast diversity that bind us, as well as the steps necessary to renew the nation’s democratic faith and confidence in the ability to achieve the country we have always imagined ourselves to be.
The best way to celebrate Professor Osinbajo is by making sure we persuade, force and demand him to break his silence and declare in the affirmative, to contest for the nation’s Presidency come 2023.
As we celebrate his life on 8th March; a life which is dedicated to bettering his community through national service. This same passion and commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians and making a difference is what drove and moved us to usher PYO straight to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa come 2023.
I support, endorse and recommend PYO for President because I (personally) and other well meaning Nigerians of like minds believe that the intelligent and amiable Osinbajo is the best bet and trump card, who will not embarrass the mandate given to him by the people.
Once again Happy Birthday Vice-President and President in the waiting Professor Yemi Osinbajo!
