NICE to host walk against building, infrastructure collapse in Ilorin
The Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE), Ilorin Chapter, has scheduled an awareness campaign to address the rising issue of building and infrastructure collapse in Nigeria.
The event, themed “Walk Against Building and Infrastructure Collapse,” is scheduled for Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
The exercise is planned to hold across the 36 states of the federation.
In a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of NICE, Ilorin Chapter, Engr. Eruotor Ovie, the campaign invites professionals in the building sector, including civil, agricultural, electrical, and mechanical engineers, architects, and quantity surveyors, to participate in the 8-kilometer road walk.

The event aims to advocate for safer buildings and infrastructure while fostering collaboration among professionals in the construction industry.
SolaceBase reports that participants are encouraged to wear a white polo T-shirt paired with jeans.
According to the statement, a limited number of NICE-branded polos and face caps will be available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis.
‘’The event highlights include opportunities to network with industry professionals, showcase collective commitment to safety awareness, and contribute to impactful change in the sector,’’ the statement said.
“Your presence will make a difference,” NICE Ilorin Chapter emphasized, urging professionals to join the walk and take a stand for safer construction practices.’’
