‘Nigeria is poor’ – Presidency replies Emir of Kano, NLC

As Nigerians continue to lament over economic hardship facing the country, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has said Nigeria is a poor country with exaggerated sense of wealth.

Onanuga made this known during his appearance on Arise News TV’s program on Monday.

“Nigeria is a very very poor country, to be honest. I think our wealth is overestimated,” he said. “I think we have a poor estimation of the wealth of the country, we are a very poor country.”

Onanuga’s claim comes hours after the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, told Nigeria’s First Lady Oluremi Tinubu to inform her husband about the unprecedented hardship in the country.
