Nigeria Islamic leaders dialogue with Niger coup plotters

The delegation of Islamic leaders from Nigeria on Saturday arrived Niamey in Niger Republic to dialogue with the coup plotters in the French speaking country of West Africa.

SOLACEBASE had reported that Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS) had initially issued a seven day ultimatum to the coup plotters to return the country back to the democratically elected government of Muhammad Bazuom.

However, after the expiration of the ultimatum, ECOWAS leaders again had an extra ordinary session on Thursday in Abuja where it was decided that the ECOWAS forces should be on stand by.

Similarly, the ECOWAS leaders said in their resolutions that dialogue is not ruled out, so as to address the political quagmire in Niger Republic.

On Saturday, a delegation of Islamic leaders from Nigeria visited the coup leaders with a message from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
