Nigerian Correctional Service decries negative portrayal in movies
The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) in Kano State has condemned those who portray the service negatively in their productions without proper authorization.
SolaceBase reports that the service also expressed concern over the unauthorised use of its uniforms, insignia, and accouterments in films, highlighting that such portrayals are misleading the public and tarnishing the service’s reputation.

The spokesperson of the Kano command Musbahu Lawan, on Wednesday, says the filmmakers’ actions are malicious and aimed at discrediting the service’s efforts.
He, however, pledged NCS commitment to humane and transformative custody, aiming to reintegrate inmates as productive members of society.

He also urged filmmakers and other media stakeholders who wish to feature any aspect of the service in their movies to seek proper approval from the Service before producing such movies.
“The public is advised to disregard films that portray the correctional facilities negatively, as they do not accurately represent the conditions within Nigeria’s custodial centers. The NCS is dedicated to transparency and is willing to work with the film industry to ensure that the image of the Service is protected and projected.”
