NSCDC found abducted man unconscious by road side in Jigawa

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa, have rescued an unconscious man dumped by suspected robbers along Kiyawa road, Kiyawa Local Government Area of the state.

The NSCDC spokesperson, CSC Adamu Shehu, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Dutse.

Shehu said the man was rescued after the Corps received a distress call from Malam Wadari, who is the Ward Head of Mabara village of Kiyawa LGA about the victim lying by roadside with a cable tightened to his neck.

“Today, at about 6pm, the command received a distress call from Malam Wadari, Ward Head of Mabara, a village under Andaza Town, Kiyawa LGA, that he received a report of an unconscious man lying by the roadside along Kiyawa Road with a cable tightened to his neck,” Shehu said.

He explained that the man, who was later identified as Umar Ibrahim, aged 58 and resident of Sarari village, of Dutse LGA, was on his way to Shuwarin weekly market in Kiyawa LGA, when he was kidnapped.

The spokesperson added that on arrival, the NSCDC Medical Team observed that the victim was bleeding through his mouth as a result of the cable used around his neck by the suspected robbers in an attempt to suffocate him.

According to him, the man was rushed to Dutse General Hospital for medical attention.

“After regaining consciousness, the man stated that he boarded a taxi along Takur Adduah area in Dutse metropolis with three passengers in it, including the driver.

“He claimed that the suspected robbers stole N97,000 from him which he wanted to use to make purchases at the Shuwarin Monday Market.

He said he could not say how it all happened, but only found himself on a hospital bed,” Shehu explained.

The spokesperson added that the NSCDC Commandant in the state, Musa Mala, who warned the general public against boarding taxis at undesignated motor parks in order to avoid such occurrences, promised to work hand in hand with other security agencies to apprehend the culprits. (NAN)
