The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NAN M) has issued a 15-day ultimatum to the Kano State Government to meet its members’ demands or face industrial action.

The association said the decision arose from a State Administrative Council meeting with after failure to address issues affecting its members in a series of correspondences to the government.

In a notice signed by the association’s acting State Secretary and Public Relations Officer, Comrade Ahmad Hamzat Sharada, addressed to the Kano State Head of Civil Service, and also sent to SolaceBase said the entire Nurses and Midwives in the State will embark on a strike action through withdrawal of services from both clinical facilities and training institutions across the State after expiration of the notice.

It said the notice commences from Wednesday 2nd October to 16h October 2024.

According to the notice, the various charter of demands include the following, Request for payment of Reviewed Hazard Allowance for Nurses, Request for Harmonization of the Scheme of Service for Nurses and Request for payment of 259% Upward Review of CONHESS Salary for Nurses.

SolaceBase had reported that Medical doctors, under the auspices of the National Association of Government General and Medical Dental Practitioners in Kano State, had set October 1 2024 for an indefinite strike, over the failure of the state government to fulfil its agreement.
The secretary of the association in Kano, Dr. Anas Idris Hassan, made this known while addressing newsmen on the outcome of their meeting on Saturday.
