PDP’s Bilbis floors Marafa in Zamfara Central Senatorial election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidates of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Zamfara central senatorial seat, Aliyu Ikira Bilbis, as winner of the contest.

Aliyu Ikira Bilbis defeated his closest rival , Kabiru Marafa of the APC.

Announcing the result, the Returning Officer of the Zamfara central senatorial district, Professor Kabiru Abdullahi of Federal University Gusau, said Alhaji Ikira Aliyu Bilbis of PDP scored a total votes of 102,866 against his opponent Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa who polled 91,216 votes.

Professor Abdullahi said Ikira Bilbis of PDP having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest votes is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.

Recalls that on February 28th, 2023 the Returning Officer of the same senatorial election, Professor Ahmad Galadima had declared the election inconclusive following the cancellation of some polling units results.

Similarly, PDP candidates were declared winners of the House of Representatives supplementary election held in Gusau/Tsafe and Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal constituencies.

In Gusau/Tsafe, Kabiru Amadu Maipalace of the PDP scored 63,589 votes to defeat the former Speaker of the state House of Assembly Sanusi Garba Rikiji of the APC who got 52,495 votes.

In Gummi/Bukkuyum federal constituency, Engineer Suleiman Abubakar Gummi of the PDP scored 35,664 votes to defeat Ahmed Mohammed of the APC who scored 35,058 votes.
