“The cause of the fire had yet to be determined; traders could only watch helplessly as officials of the Kano State Fire Service battled to contain the inferno.”

The trader further revealed that the fire spread to a nearby building housing the international courier company DHL, where it damaged and burnt part of the roof.

SolaceBase reports that the affected market, situated between the DHL building and FCMB along Murtala Mohammed Way, is well known for the sale of household and office furnishing items, including furniture, carpets, air conditioners, mattresses, refrigerators, televisions, and other interior decoration materials.

SolaceBase made efforts to reach the Kano State Fire Service Public Relations Officer (PRO) for comments, but all attempts were unsuccessful as his phone line was unreachable.
