PHOTOS: WOFAN inaugurates ultra modern office in FCT

The Women Farmers Advancement Network (WOFAN) with its headquarters in Kano, northwest Nigeria, has inaugurated an ultra-modern at Jabi district, Abuja.

SolaceBase reports that WOFAN is a Nigerian non-profit organization established to improve and promote the economic, social, and political empowerment of rural women and youth in Nigeria.

Inaugurating, the office, on Tuesday, the Country Director, WOFAN-ICON2 Project, Dr Salamatu Garba said the organization is expanding and presently operates in ten states in the north that include the northwest, north east and north central.

‘’WOFAN has two offices in Abuja, that is in Maitama and Garki but we have been operating there temporarily as rented apartments,  this one here is our permanent premises and structure in Abuja, Dr. Garba said.

According to her, the premises belong to WOFAN Comprehensive School and will be housing the administrative office of WOFAN just like the situation in Kano.

‘’You know that WOFAN has several units, such as the school, WOFAN Tauraruwa Rice, WOFAN Centre and others, therefore the Abuja permanent office will be of greater use to us.’’

‘’Presently, WOFAN has set out machinery to improve agricultural activities of women farmers and people with disabilities in the FCT area councils, Benue and Nasarawa State.’’

‘’This is our third year of operating in Abuja and we are planning to widen the scope of support to rural communities of the FCT.’’

The commissioning of the office was witnessed by WOFAN staff from Kano, Bauchi, Gombe Adamawa, FCT and others.
