Police recover stolen vehicles, arrest couple among suspects in FCT

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recovered three stolen vehicles and arrested eight suspects involved in separate cases of car theft, including a husband-and-wife who used tools purchased online to commit the crimes.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh.

According to the statement, the operation began on April 19, 2025, after a gold Toyota Corolla (registration number ABC 570 FJ) was reported stolen from the Federal Secretariat. Operatives of the Command’s Scorpion Squad swiftly arrested one Yusuf Yunusa in connection with the theft. Further investigations led to the arrest of his wife, Blessing Yusuf, in Kwali Area Council on April 25.

“During interrogation, Blessing confessed to purchasing Toyota master keys from the online marketplace Jumia, which her husband used to steal vehicles. She also admitted to distracting victims to aid in the execution of the crimes,” the statement revealed.
