Protest: Kaduna lifts curfew following improved security
In a significant development for Kaduna and Zaria, Governor Uba Sani, leading the Kaduna State Security Council, has announced the complete removal of the curfew previously in effect from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m.
Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, confirmed the lifting of the curfew on Tuesday, 13th August 2024.

According to Aruwan, the decision followed a thorough review of the security situation in the affected areas.
“With this development, law-abiding citizens are now free to move and engage in legitimate activities in Kaduna and Zaria towns and their environs without restriction,” he stated.
The Kaduna State Security Council, during an extensive assessment, unanimously recommended the removal of the curfew, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining the safety and security of Kaduna State’s residents.
They also cautioned that any public processions or gatherings must be cleared with the appropriate authorities to prevent any disturbances.
Security forces will remain vigilant, tasked with monitoring and prosecuting any individuals or groups that threaten public peace.

Governor Sani praised the collaborative efforts of security agencies, religious and traditional leaders, and other key stakeholders in managing the aftermath of the protests in Kaduna and Zaria.
