Protest: Kano residents defy 24-hour curfew
The compliance to 24-hour curfew imposed on Kano since Thursday by the state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf after the nationwide protest went wild is receiving low attention.
SolaceBase had reported that the Thursday protest in Kano witnessed looting and destruction of both public and private properties running into billions of naira, this precipitated the 24- hours curfew declaration by the state governor.
The State Police Command on Friday paraded 320 suspected looters and vandals arrested with some of the stolen items
However, the government relaxed it for five hours on Friday from 12.00 noon to 5.00 pm for residents to be able to attend the Jumuat Prayers in the afternoon.

Police checkpoints with vigilante groups were seen on major roads in the metropolis trying to ensure compliance.
On Ibrahim Taiwo road and Bello road, some shops were seen opened for business activities.
Most of the major roads in the town were seen with few vehicles and some residents trekking to their various destinations.
Similarly, a makeshift market at Sabin Gari by New Road is bobbling of activities with buyers and sellers conducting their activities.
One of the buyers at the market who spoke to SolaceBase, Ifeoma Okechukwu said she came to buy some pepper and two cups of gari for her family to survive on.
”Since the curfew started on Thursday, it has been a bit difficult for us, because getting money to buy food to eat is not easy,” Ifeoma said.
”I work at a local restaurant as an attendant and the shop has closed since Thursday evening when they announced the curfew, hence there is nothing to live on since then as we are paid daily.”
Meanwhile , some residents complained about armed thugs attacking Sheka quarters , off Zoo road without presence of security agents to protect them.
About two petrol filling stations were seen in the metropolis dispensing fuel to some motorists though Adai data sahu (Commercial Tricycle) were not seen on the roads
A group of young men were arrested by police on airport road who claimed they were going to attend a wedding ceremony around Brigade are in Nasarawa local government area.
They were later allowed to proceed for their program.
