Salary deductions at Barau FC amid relegation struggles
Barau FC has been thrown into turmoil following widespread anger among staff and officials over unexplained salary deductions allegedly ordered without prior notice or clarification from the club’s management.
Several affected workers told SolaceBase that they were shocked to discover cuts in their salaries, accusing the Club President, Shawwal Barau Jibrin, and the General Manager, Dominic Iorfa, of failing to offer any explanation.
The development has escalated tensions within the club, which is already battling poor performance on the field and internal divisions off it.
Reacting to the issue, President Shawwal Barau Jibrin confirmed that deductions were indeed made, saying the decision targeted “non-performing staff and officials.”
He explained that the club’s leadership has invested heavily in the team, yet results have remained discouraging as Barau FC continues to struggle in the relegation zone.

“We have put so much into this club, and we cannot continue like this. The team is not performing, and we expect everyone to take responsibility,” he said.
Shawwal added that the club’s founder has high expectations and is committed to doing everything possible to ensure the team succeeds, but current performances have fallen far below standard.
Sources within the club revealed that Barau FC’s internal crisis intensified shortly after the appointment of Dominic Iorfa as General Manager.
Tension escalated when the club president convened a meeting with the new GM and players, a move that reportedly angered the Club Chairman, Ibrahim Chanji.
Insiders say the fallout from that meeting marked the beginning of persistent internal wrangling, with disagreements over authority, management decisions, and performance obligations.
Barau FC now faces a dual challenge: stabilizing internal relations while also fighting to avoid relegation. With staff unrest, leadership tensions, and a struggling squad, observers warn that unless urgent steps are taken, the crisis could further derail the club’s season.
