Sanction Wike now-Guber candidate tells PDP

Kano governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Sadik Aminu Wali has called on the national leadership of the PDP to sanction the former governor of Rivers State and FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike over his actions that may result in destroying the party.

Wali made the call on Saturday at a news conference in Kano.

According to him, Wike’s actions have already done damage to the party by working against it, which led to the loss of the 2023 presidential election.

He said that the leadership of the party must do their work by doing the right thing in dealing with Wike before it is too late because he has no value in the party.

“The PDP leadership should call Wike to order by suspending or expelling him from the party. What is worse that he can do, he has already done. We have lost the 2023 presidential election due to their actions. G5 governors banded together and decided to work against the party. What value do they have? In Hausa, there is a saying that it is better to give somebody one naira when he needs it than to give him ten naira when he doesn’t need it, because when he is in need, that one naira has more value for him.”

“So we need to solve this crisis. The leadership of our party, I am not condemning them all, but I am saying that they should wake up to their responsibility. This is not a joke. The leadership of our party must take action now before it is too late. If you are talking about setting up a committee of reconciliation, to reconcile what? We all know what went wrong. The G5-led minister Wike obviously worked against our party. You don’t need to go and set up a committee to find out what happened.”

“A few days ago, an elder statesman and the former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, made a statement regarding the crisis in Rivers State. Unfortunately, one of the leaders of our party, the National Publicity Secretary, came out and challenged Alhaji Sule Lamido’s statement. This was very surprising to people like me because what Alhaji Sule said was the truth that none of the people within the corridors of leadership in our party said. We have said it: the perception of our party is not as favorable as it was before.”

“Alhaji Sule Lamido, spoke the truth about the crisis in Rivers and how the party had failed to address the issue. Rivers is a PDP-controlled state; it is a PDP government. What business does the president have in dealing with an internal party issue? Governor Fubara is a loyal PDP member. He is the governor of Rivers State and is having issues with his members of the state assembly. It is an internal matter. Why should the president involve himself in an internal issue”

“The PDP Governors’ Forum should support Governor Fubara to be able to stand on his feet and against Wike. I believe Governor Fubara, no matter how he got there through Wike or otherwise, it is God that gave him power. He is the governor today, so he has to take the right action.”

“These commissioners resigned their positions because of the dispute between their principal and former Governor Wike. Now, you signed another piece of paper that you are going to resubmit their names for reappointment, why? They never belonged to you. He has to make his own legacy. Just like Governor Wike was left to make his own legacy, he was allowed to govern Rivers State and allowed to make Rivers a better state. Then Governor Fubara should also be given that opportunity.”

While offering his condolences to the family of former House of Representatives Speaker, Alhaji Ghali Umar Na’abba, Sadik Wali described Na’abba as a courageous and fearless leader who stood by truth.

“Gali Umar Na’abba was one of the exceptional politicians who spoke truth to authority without fear or favor. It doesn’t matter whether you are an Igbo man, Hausa Fulani, Yoruba man, or any other tribe. As long as you are true, he is true to you. If you do wrong in governance or politics, he always calls you out and tells you the truth.”

He asked the Almighty Allah to forgive him and grant him Jannatul Firdausi.
