The Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA) has welcomed Dr Godwin Atser, a renowned extension specialist, as its Country Director for Nigeria.
This is contained in a statement issued from the Nigeria office of SAA in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that SAA, which used to be called Sasakawa Global 2000 (SG2000) work in close collaboration with national agricultural extension services in Ethiopia, Mali, Nigeria and Uganda to support smallholder farmers along agricultural value chain.
According to SAA, Atser is a renowned extension, rural development and communication specialist with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA).
Before Atser’s appointment, he was the Advocacy, Promotions and Outreach Lead of the IITA Building.

Atser who joined IITA in 2008 has over 17 years of experience with non-profit and for-profit sectors.
The new country director also began his career as a Correspondent with the Punch Newspapers, and has authored and co-authored several scientific publications.
He has contributed to several international media, including BBC World Service Trust and Spore magazine.
SOLACEBASE reports that SAA also aims to increase farmers’ income and food and nutrition security through promoting market-oriented, sustainable, resilient, and regenerative and nutrition-sensitive agricultural innovations and building the capacity of Extension Agents and farmers.
It also aims to support Africa to fulfil its aspirations in building resilient and sustainable food systems. (NAN)
