Senator Barau lauds FG over award of two electricity substation in Bichi, Kabo at N3.3bn

Senator representing Kano North, Alhaji Barau Jubrin has lauded the federal executive council (FEC) for approving and awarding the contract for the construction of a permanent electricity substation in Bichi and Kabo local government areas of Kano to improve electricity supplies in the areas.

Senator Barau Jubrin who is also the Chairman of, Senate Committee on Appropriation made the commendation in an interview with journalists on Wednesday after the FEC meeting where the contract was approved and awarded.

He said the two projects which were sponsored by him were part of the capital project in the 2021 budget.

Solacebase reports that the permanent electricity substation in Bichi was awarded at $9.6M ( N1.7bn) and that of Kanyi in Kabo local government at $9.5m (N1.6bn).

He said the efforts which has been on for over two years materialized on Wednesday which in no small measure will improve the economic development of the affected areas with improved electricity supply as in the case with that of Kwanar Dangora, in the Kiru local government area of Kano.

Senator Barau Jubrin noted that when completed the electricity substation in Bichi will supply power to Bichi, Tsanyawa, Kuchi and parts of Bagwai while that of Kanyi will provide electricity for Kabo, Rimin Gado, Tsanyawa, Gwarzo and parts of Bagwai.

He appreciated the state government support in the approval of the projects.
