Senator Shekarau inspects, inaugurates 11 projects in Kano

The Senator representing Kano central senatorial district, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau on Monday inspected and inaugurate 11 projects across 7 local government areas in the state.

Solacebase reports that the local governments are Gwale, Minjibir, Nassarawa, Dala, Kumbotso, Municipal and Tarauni where the projects were centred mainly on education and health sectors.

Addressing journalists during the tour of the projects, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau , a two term governor of Kano State  said his entire 2020 and 2021 projects were centered on education and health, as it is the major challenge of his constituents and therefore it is a move to meet their expectation.

“Just like you can see, 90 percent of the projects are classrooms construction and probably some 10 percent has to do with healthcare issues.

“My reason for concentrating on education matters since I went to the senate is because education is the greatest dividend you can give to any citizen. If you provide enough schools, there will be enough opportunities for our children to be educated. And the more educated the students are, the better the society.

“I can remember over 59 years ago, late Mallam Aminu Kano used to make an argument that even an ordinary local well will last longer in the village of educated people far more than the village of  uneducated people.

“My concern honestly, particularly in Kano central is to ensure that we reached a stage whereby no age going school children are left on the street and we know we are having challenge of space and accommodation and we keep expanding. The government is doing it’s best, and we have the responsibility to compliment it’s effort.

“We have committees across the entire senatorial district that goes to the grassroots and report back to us their needs.”

‘’That is a mechanism we put in place to understand what our people need not what we think they need.;

The projects inspected and inaugurated are: construction and furnishing of a block of 2 classrooms with office and store at Kawon Alhaji Sani primary school; Inspection of extension work of the Accident and Emergency (A & E) pharmacy at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH); construction and furnishing of a block of 2 classrooms with office and store at nomadic primary school, Sheka; and rehabilitation of Maryam Shekarau Girls Secondary School, Kwalli, Sabuwar Kofa.

Construction and furnishing of a block of 2 classrooms with office and store at A.A Sule primary school lokon makera; block laying foundation of a block of 2 classrooms with office and store at Diso and Inspection of a block of 3 classrooms with office and store at Ta’adibul Aulad Girls Islamic secondary school, Adakawa.

Others are construction of a block of 3 classrooms, office and store at Government Girls Secondary School, Kunya in Minjibir; Inspection of ongoing construction of Qur’anic college at Gunduwawa; Construction of 2 blocks of 3 classrooms furnished with office and store each at Gunduwawa special primary school and Construction of 20 bed primary health care centre at Babawa ward of Gunduwawa community.

Senator Ibrahim  Shekarau was lauded and warmly welcomed by all and sundry in all local government areas visited realising to host of political supporters coming to the outskirts of their domains to make addition to his incoming convoy chanting all sort of goodwill praises.

Shekarau 11 projects
