Singer Simi has come out to clarify the misunderstanding the public has about a statement she made in a recent interview.

The singer who was recently a guest on the podcast “Zero Conditions,” shocked fans by admitting that she doesn’t know any musicians or listen to music, not even her own!

Simi continued by saying that the only reason she listens to her husband, Adekunle Gold’s music is because they are married.

Following the interview, some fans reacted by calling the artist “cocky” and “proud.”

Simi, however, has come out to admit that she didn’t mean her statement literally but she acknowledges that she could have had that conversation “more carefully”.

“In hindsight, I should have had this conversation more carefully. I didn’t because I honestly didn’t consider that it could be something that some might consider as cocky”, the singer stated.

“I don’t see how saying ‘I don’t listen to anything’ repeatedly can come off as weird, but it was not literal. I’m always tweeting about songs I like. I’m just terrible at keeping up with things that most other people know.”

Simi went further to explain that her statement only meant that she’s always cut off from the rest of the world and is never in the know about what’s trending or not.
