Skyline University celebrates 4th convocation

The Skyline University Nigeria, SUN, the first private and internationally oriented university in Kano, has celebrated its 4th Convocation Ceremony, marking the graduation of 180 undergraduate and 43 postgraduate students.

The ceremony, which took place on Saturday, drew top Kano government officials, traditional rulers, academics, parents, and well-wishers from across the state.

Speaking at the event, the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, praised the university for its contribution to quality education in Kano and urged graduates to use their knowledge for the development of society.

Represented by his Deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, the governor said, “Skyline University has become a beacon of excellence in Kano, offering opportunities for young people to learn, innovate, and compete globally while remaining rooted at home.”

Also speaking at the event, the Chancellor of the University and Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, urged the graduates to apply their education for meaningful impact.

He stated that, “Education is not just about earning a degree. It is about discovering your purpose, solving problems, and uplifting your communities. Knowledge without action is like a lamp without oil.”

He also praised the high number of female graduates, noting that 60 percent of the class were women.

“May this mark the beginning of greater female participation in governance and leadership across the nation,” he added.

On his part, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ajith Kumar V.V., highlighted the university’s achievements over the 2024/2025 academic year, including full accreditation for all medical science programmes, approval of seven new part-time courses by the National Universities Commission, and partnerships with international universities in the UK, Canada, Morocco, and India.

He said, “The graduating class of 2025 represents determination, resilience, and excellence. We are proud to send forth 180 bachelor’s and 43 postgraduate degree holders, including 24 first-class graduates.”

The Special Guest of Honour, former Kano State Governor, Engr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso congratulated the graduating students.

He stated, “Let me congratulate all the students once again. You have worked hard over the years to make this day a success for yourselves, for your parents, and for all of us.

“The purpose of education is not just to graduate, but to establish yourself, create opportunities, and make a positive impact in your communities.”

He added, “Congratulations once again. May your education serve as a foundation for success and positive influence wherever life takes you.”

The event concluded with the conferment of degrees, awards for outstanding students and underscoring Skyline University Nigeria’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and global relevance.
