Skyline University Nigeria trains over 100 journalists on strategic intelligent leadership in Kano

A leading private university in Nigeria, Skyline University Nigeria, has organised a one-day “Pocket MBA” seminar on Strategic Intelligent Leadership.

SolaceBase reports that the seminar held on Saturday aimed at equipping journalists with modern management skills and knowledge of emerging technologies.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof Ajith Kumar V. V., said the programme was designed to update media professionals on the latest management concepts and technological innovations that can enhance productivity and organisational performance.

According to the Vice Chancellor, the university, in its 7 years of operation as the first fully accredited private university by the NUC in Kano, is conducting the seminar as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), in order to give back to society in a way which will not only benefit individuals financially but also socially.

Speaking during the seminar held at the university’s campus in Kano on Saturday, Kumar explained that the initiative is part of the institution’s efforts to share knowledge with professionals across various sectors.

According to him, the Pocket MBA programme focuses on strategic intelligent leadership, which combines effective strategic planning with the use of modern technologies to improve workplace efficiency.

“This programme is organised for journalists and corporate professionals. The basic idea is to upgrade and update them about the latest technologies and management concepts,” he said.

Kumar noted that strategic intelligent leadership involves not only planning strategies but also leveraging modern technologies to create a more productive and efficient work environment.

He further explained that the university has previously organised similar programmes for professionals in sectors including the judiciary, banking industry, and print media.

He said the initiative forms part of the university’s corporate social responsibility, aimed at supporting organisations in Kano by exposing them to global trends and best practices in leadership and management.

The vice-chancellor added that the programme is intended to help organisations better utilise emerging technologies, strengthen teamwork, and improve overall performance.

Kumar said that about 108 journalists from eight different media organisations in Kano attended the seminar, expressing satisfaction with the turnout.

The media organisations include SolaceBase Communication, Freedom Radio, Media Trust, Cool/Wazobia/Arewa FM, Daily Nigerian Hausa, Guarantee Radio and Nasara Radio, among others.

He also highlighted that the programme serves as a platform to motivate professionals and encourage them to pursue their goals despite perceived limitations.

“Everybody knows something, but sometimes it takes a conscious effort to reinforce and motivate people to go in the right direction so that they can achieve their goals,” he said.

The vice-chancellor emphasised that individuals and organisations in Kano have the capacity to compete globally if they adopt the right strategies and technologies.

“I strongly believe that no human being on this earth is less or more. All of us can move forward and make it happen,” he said, adding that collective efforts can help take Kano to greater heights.

Jabir Ali from Nassara Radio said the programme provided valuable insights into modern leadership practices and emerging technologies and encouraged the university to continue such knowledge-sharing engagements for journalists and professionals across other sectors.
