SON tasks manufacturers in Kano on standardisation

The Director-General of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Malam Faruk Salim, has tasked manufacturers in Kano to adhere strictly to standards to be competitive globally.

Salim made the call during inspection of some industries in Kano on Thursday.

He said adhering strictly to  standardisation and quality assurance would make Nigerian products and services more acceptable in the international market.

The SON said that upholding standardisation would create international markets and patronage for such products.

“Our aim is to upgrade every industry across the country.

“Northern state are blessed with fertile land,  when we produce our own food it will boost the economy of the country.

“Today Kano is great in rice production.

“Not everything foreign is the best. when you buy made in Nigeria commodities, you are growing our economy and empowering the Federal Government,” he said.

The DG added that Standards organization of Nigeria is committed to providing standards and quality assurance services for all products and processes in Nigeria in line with international best practices and ensure continual improvement.

Solacebase reports that some of the manufacturing companies visited are Ilera  Agro Nigeria Ltd, Al-wabel rice mill, Ammasco international Ltd, Aspira Nigeria ltd ABY Lubricant Nigeria, Gerawa rice mill ltd, Stallion farms & Mills ltd and Royal Foam Products Nig Ltd.

Earlier the managing director of Ammasco International Ltd, Alhaji Ibrahim Mustapha, applauded the efforts of Standard Organization of Nigeria for the support it renders to indigenous companies stressing that the gesture helps the companies to be up to standard.
