Kano State is set for a major political gathering as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are expected to attend the grand reception to welcome Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf into the ruling party.

SolaceBase reports that the event, scheduled for Monday, February 16, 2026, will hold at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano, and is anticipated to attract top political figures and party faithful from across the country.

Addressing party members at his office on Wednesday, the Kano State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, said the reception was designed to formally and symbolically welcome Governor Yusuf into the APC in a grand manner.

He described the event as a significant moment for the party in Kano, a state widely regarded as a key player in Nigeria’s political landscape, adding that it would provide an opportunity for the APC to showcase its strength and unity.

Abbas also announced the inauguration of several committees to ensure the smooth planning and execution of the high-profile event.

Meanwhile, preparations have gathered momentum with the constitution of key committees to coordinate various aspects of the reception.

The Security Committee, comprising 15 members, is chaired by Col. Umar Malami, with the Director-General, Special Service, serving as Secretary.

The Venue Committee has 16 members and is headed by Hon. Bala Mohd Gwagwarwa as Chairman, while Engr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje serves as Secretary.

For media coordination and public engagement, a 15-member Publicity Committee was inaugurated, with Hon. Muhammad Garba as Chairman and Hon. Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa as Secretary.

The Health Emergency and Sanitation Committee, also made up of 15 members, is chaired by Dr Abubakar Labaran, with Dr Dahiru Hashim as a member, while Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa serves as Secretary. The committee is expected to oversee medical and emergency arrangements at the stadium.

Similarly, the 15-member Protocol Committee is chaired by Hon Abdullahi Rogo, with Hon. Ibrahim Zakari Sarina as Secretary, and will handle reception formalities and seating arrangements for dignitaries.

To ensure a massive turnout, the party constituted a 20-member Mobilization Committee headed by Hon. Mohd Bello Butu-Butu as Chairman, with Hon. Ma’aruf Abdullahi Garo serving as Secretary.
