#TRENDING: Outrage as Tinubu appoints ex-lawmaker accused of stealing COVID-19 palliatives for birthday party as NSITF director

The social media has been agog since Saturday, July 13, following the appointment of Mojisolaoluwa Kehinde Alli-Macaulay as the Executive Director (Operations) of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).

According to a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu said he expects Alli-Macaulay and other newly appointed heads of NSITF to ensure transparency and efficiency in the operations of the agency to actualise the objective of the NSITF as a driver of good causes in Nigeria.

The statement added that the President anticipates a comprehensive re-positioning of the NSITF for enhanced social protection and qualitative service delivery to the Nigerian public.

Meanwhile, many Nigerians on social media have called out President Tinubu over the appointment of Alli-Macaulay, a former lawmaker and former Chairperson of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Women Affairs, Poverty Alleviation, and Job Creation.

PROMISES-DELIVERED

The ex-lawmaker was in 2020 accused of hoarding COVID-19 relief materials meant for residents and later using the same as party packs at her birthday event. She allegedly repackaged the palliatives packs as seen in photographs which went viral after the event.

But she dispelled the allegations, describing the peddlers as wicked and out to tarnish her image. She claimed that the ceremony was a dual celebration for her birthday and women empowerment programme.

She noted it was a coincidence that the 90 boxes of noodles came at the same time and had to be shared to the rightful owners.

“I am a woman of compassion. I can never take what is meant for the people and even before I became a member in 2019, I had always touched people’s lives.”

Following her appointment on Saturday, Nigerians on X said Alli-Macaulay lacks integrity.

See reactions below:

@dontee—: This woman diverted #COVID19 Palliatives for her Birthday and now she’s been rewarded with a federal appointment. I know President Tinubu won’t know every appointee but this woman lacks the integrity for any Public Office. SMH!

@ChukaObi: Nothing to see here, just Pusha T further putting his niggas on.

The Palliathief is now in charge of national social insurance money.

Thief no go approve thief ke?

Alooter Continua.

@itsdshow: Part of the People who hoarded palliatives meant for her constituents and shared it as Souvenirs at his birthday Soiree. She was showed the way out of the Lagos HOA by her people. We have more credible people who can occupy such positions rather than her.

@bamsdell: This epitomises why Nigeria continues to degenerate. There’s no consequence for bad behaviour. Instead, perpetrators are sought and rewarded with better opportunities & elevations above the previous instances.

A captured and subjugated state that’s fast approaching dystopia.

@TundeAluko: In the height of Covid when people were dying and going through a lockdown, this woman took palliatives donated by agencies and rebranded them for her own birthday, she has now been given trust fund in a federal agency, you know what that means 😭
