Tribute to Late Dr. Habib Sadauki: A paragon of modesty, devotion and steadfastness

Today, we were met with the sorrowful news of the passing of Dr. Habib Sadauki, a man whose impact transcended boundaries and touched numerous lives.

A model of humility, dedication, and perseverance, his departure serves as a poignant reminder of our mortality and the inevitability of returning to our Creator. Dr. Habib Sadauki’s journey in the realm of medicine was truly remarkable, commencing from his formative years at Barewa College, Zaria, and culminating in his distinguished career as a renowned gynaecologist.

His alma mater, Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, was where he refined his expertise and passion for women’s health. Not only was Dr. Habib Sadauki a proficient clinician, but he also made significant contributions to healthcare policy as the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Hospital Management Board.

His efforts played a crucial role in shaping the medical services landscape in the region, ensuring that top-tier care was accessible to all. His legacy will endure through the multitude of lives he impacted and the indelible mark he left on the medical field.

In collaboration with his colleagues, Dr. Habib Sadauki co-founded the esteemed Premier Clinic in Kano, a testament to his unwavering commitment to providing exceptional medical services. His leadership acumen was prominently displayed when he was elected as the national President of the Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria (SOGON), a position that underscored his influence and prestige within the medical sphere.

Hailing from Gwarzo local government area in Kano State, he served as a beacon of hope and inspiration for the residents of his hometown, embodying the virtues of dedication and perseverance.

His most significant contribution to Gwarzo, his birthplace, was when he assumed the role of Chairman of Gwarzo Consultative Forum. Modest yet resolute, Dr. Habib guided the GCF towards establishing a School of Midwifery in Gwarzo, expanding Gwarzo General Hospital, and organizing weekly medical outreach programs to the hospital by GCF members who are medical professionals. His influence extended further as he actively participated in an effort to facilitate the conversion of School of Environmental Studies, Gwarzo to a full-fledged Polytechnic and the initiation of the construction of Maryam Abacha American University, MAAUN, Gwarzo Campus.

As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate his life and the invaluable lessons he imparted.
