Two federal lawmakers from Kano State have dumped the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing unresolved internal conflicts within their former party.

SolaceBase reports that the defections of Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, who represents Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya, and Abdullahi Sani Rogo of Karaye/Rogo federal constituency were announced during Thursday’s plenary by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.

Their switch adds to the growing number of legislators crossing over to the APC in recent months. Oluwole Oke, a lawmaker from Osun State, also formally joined the APC during the same sitting.

The session was witnessed by APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and other senior figures in the party, who were present in the green chamber to welcome the new members.

In recent months, the house has recorded multiple defections, many of which have tilted the balance in favour of the ruling APC.
