As of recent history. At Anfield, the name MO Salah will keep surfacing eternally for a heroic history made, whereas Camp Nou will remain eternally grateful to the positive inputs made by Lionel Messi. It is Zinedine Zidane at Santiago Bernabéu among the most famous contributors that made a triumphant history of greatness.
One of the heroes who made greater inputs into the Kano State mainstream civil service is Umar Farouk Ibrahim who was popularly known as Farouk Jet, the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government by His Excellency Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
I am confidently saying, that it is a known fact to all Kano’s civil servants that Malam Farouk is the flagpole standing firmly at the entrance of Kano Civil Service Hall of Fame. His appointment as the Secretary to the State Government is as simple as putting a square peg in a square hole.
I am saying in confidence that Malam Farouk is very popular on effective delivery, very strong on any daunting tasks, so reliable for any positive expectation and very dependable at the verge of fear and hopelessness for crucial deliveries in governance.

We also all knew, that the history of Kano’s civil service recognised him as a vibrant and very intelligent administrator whose brain served as the database that stored the desired components as the solution to most management crisis. Even my highly respected elders at the Council of Retired Heads of Civil Service and Permanent Secretaries (CORHOPS) recognised Malam Farouk and appointed him as the Secretary to the Council.
I chose to first post this piece on this platform, being the home base of all the influential Kano civil servants. Logically, having done so is as simple as telling my readers a known fact. They knew what I am saying and they knew better on the personality I was referring to in this writeup. I am afraid as I will be accused of saying very little on the virtues, values, integrity, capacity and capability of Malam Farouk.
The Office of the Secretary to the State Government (Cabinet Office) is the central administrative nerves of government, a shock observer that absorbs functions of all MDAs, and initiates innovative-driven policies, programmes, projects and all activities of Government. It is also the central route that determines the workloads and policy direction of not only the MDAs but also the Office of His Excellency, the Executive Governor.
Malam Farouk retired honourably and voluntarily from the service. Another factor that will prove the facts as contained in this piece is the fact that, during his bureaucratic journey, having the belief on his positive inputs on governance, the government retained him for a long period of time serving at the Cabinet Office right from his younger age of administrative deliveries up to his elevation to the position of Permanent Secretary. A captain with vast experience and a track record of service has now taken over to cruise the ship. Now, at the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, there will be no room for excuse of snailish deliveries.

The daunting tasks and workloads that are stressing the Office of the Executive Governor will now be drastically subsided and administratively attended to by another feather of Government. His Excellency, the Governor will be supported with a capable hand in administration. I am sure more positive results will be added, values will be attained and desired results will be achieved.
A careful analysis reveals a series of recognitions reposed to the mainstream civil service by His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. The appointment and extension of service length of the Head of Civil Service (Malam Abdullahi Musa), payment of N16 billion for settlement of outstanding backlog of gratuities, stability on timely and full-scale payments of monthly salaries and pension to the State’s civil servants and pensioners.
