UNICEF signs MoU with Federal University Kashere on Communication for Development program

UNICEF has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Federal University Kashere, in Gombe State for the takeoff of postgraduate studies in Communication for Development and Behavior Change.

SOLACEBASE reports that UNICEF Representative in Nigeria, Ms. Cristian Munduate, who led a powerful delegation from the United Nations agency, signed on behalf of the organization and Vice Chancellor, Federal University Kashere, Prof. Umaru Pate signed for the citadel of learning.

The event took place on Tuesday at the university premises .

Ms Munduate said the visit of the team to the institution was to formally signed the MoU with the university.

It was gathered that this is the first kind of this agreement in Nigeria with UNICEF and any tertiary institution in the country.

Speaking shortly after signing the agreement, Prof. Umaru Pate said this would open up opportunities for sustained human capacity development in the north-east and across Nigeria.

Pate said the postgraduate course would take off next academic session as the university would be expecting application from prospective candidates.

The Vice Chancellor said with the MoU, UNICEF will support the postgraduate course with human and material resources to develop the next generation of communication specialists that understand practical issues of development particularly, issues relating to welfare of women and children.

He appreciated UNICEF for finding the university worthy of collaboration and partnership.
