UNIMAID gets substantive VC
The Governing Council of University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has approved the appointment of Prof. Mohammed Mele, as substantive Vice-Chancellor.
This is contained in a statement by the university’s registrar, Ahmad Lawan, on Wednesday in Maiduguri.
He said the development was sequel to the recommendation of the Joint Council and Senate Selection Board.
“The Governing Council of the University of Maiduguri at its special meeting held on Wednesday 18th September 2024, has approved the appointment of Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University.
“This followed the recommendation of the Joint Council and Senate Selection Board, which interviewed four (4) applicants for the post.

“The appointment takes effect from Wednesday, 18th September, 2024.
“Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele is a distinguished scholar of English Language and Linguistics with over two decades of dedicated service in teaching,” the statement said.
Until his appointment, Mele was the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University, and held several academic and administrative positions in the University, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Central Administration).
Mele hails from Mafa Local Government Area of Borno. (NAN)
