Urban Renewal Project: Kano apprehends goats destroying planted trees

Kano State Government has warned residents against allowing animals to roam freely and destroy newly planted trees along major roads in the state, as part of its ongoing urban renewal project.

This was disclosed in a statement personally signed by the Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dahir M. Hashim, on Friday.

Dr. Hashim stated that as part of the ongoing Urban Renewal Project, the ministry has commenced tree-planting exercises along Lodge Road and Race Course, with plans to extend the initiative to all major roads across the state.

He explained that the aim is to reduce heat and air pollution while beautifying the city of Kano.

He stressed that such actions would not be tolerated.

“We have already apprehended some goats found destroying the trees, and they are currently being held at Zone I police headquarters,” the statement read.

He called on the public to support the government’s efforts by cooperating to ensure the success of the project.
