Wada Sagagi Islamic school graduates 70 Qur’an memorizers
The Fityatul Qur’an Almurattal Li Tahafizil Qur’an Lil Haj Wada Sagagi school celebrated the graduation of 70 students who successfully memorized the Holy Qur’an.
The graduation ceremony, held on Sunday at the Waterfall Event Centre in Kano, drew dignitaries from within and outside Nigeria.
In his welcome address, the school’s proprietor and Commissioner of Commerce, Investment, and Industries, Alhaji Shehu wada Sagagi, expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the successful graduation ceremony.
He recounted the school’s establishment, stating that two years ago, he prayed for a new home and pledged that, if granted, he would convert his old residence into an Islamic school for Qur’an memorization.
“To God be the glory, less than a year later, Allah blessed me with a new house, and I fulfilled my promise by converting the old house into this school. Today, Alhamdulillah, we are graduating this set of students,” he said.

He went on to mention that out of the 84 students who graduated, 70 are Qur’an memorizers, while 14 are Qur’an readers who can read the entire Qur’an but have not memorized it.

“The school was established in February 2023. During this period, an unforgettable incident occurred. Our neighbours falsely accused me of hoarding palliative at the school. Out of 120 students, only one, my daughter, is related to me. Despite this, they made such an accusation. I will not forget this,” he stated.
He also reiterated that his office has never been involved in palliative distribution, and he has never been allocated palliatives for distribution to state, local government, or ward levels.
He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for sponsoring the graduation of all the students.
Deputy Commander General of Operations , Kano State Hisbah Board, Dr. Mujahideen Abubakar urged the graduates to utilize the knowledge they acquired at the school positively.
He also advised parents to encourage their children to pursue Islamic knowledge, particularly Qur’an memorization and prayed for God’s blessings upon the students.
