”We have surpass our 450,000 beneficiaries target of agriculture support program”- KSADP
The Kano Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP) said it has exceeded its initial target of 450,000 beneficiaries for the agricultural support initiative with its implementing partner, on Crop productivity enhancement Component Sasakawa Africa Association, under a program funded by the Islamic Development Bank’s Lives and Livelihoods Fund and the Kano State Government.
SolaceBase reports that the Kano Agro-Pastoral Development Project, (KSADP) Project Coordinator, under Sasakawa Africa Association, Comrade Abdurrashid Hamisu Kofar Mata, revealed this on Wednesday during an ongoing supervision of agricultural equipment distribution to small-scale farmers in the state, at Lahadin Makole in Dawakin Kudu local government area.

Kofar Mata said as the project is coming on end in April, they have already reached 477,000 beneficiaries across the 44 local government areas of Kano State and are now aiming to reach 500,000.
“As we are on the final phase of the project, we have already surpassed the initial target of 450,000 beneficiaries. Currently, we have 477,000, and we are working towards reaching 500,000.”
Speaking on the current phase of support for farmers, Kofar Mata highlighted that after the Kano State Government flagged off the program, the association has been closely monitoring the distribution process to ensure smooth implementation.
On his part, Kano State Project Coordinator of KSADP, Malam Ibrahim Garba Muhammad said the beneficiaries received various agricultural tools, including harvesters and solar-powered water pumping machines, to enhance their farming activities, and the farmers underwent training in precision farming and pest and disease control.

“Women farmers were not left behind, as they were trained and provided with rice parboiling equipment to boost rice processing.”
He noted that efforts are being made to link farmers with major producers and suppliers to strengthen the agricultural value chain.

Some beneficiaries, including Adnan Musa and Khadija, expressed their gratitude to KSADP and Sasakawa Africa Association for their support.
They promised to use the provided equipment efficiently for their own benefit and the development of their communities.
