Wike defeats Atiku as PDP caucus extends Damagum’s tenure

Barring last-minute changes, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders have agreed that acting National Chairman, Illya Umar Damagum should continue in office, an indication that Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike continues to maintain an upper hand in the leadership crisis plaguing the opposition party.

Damagum is to continue acting in office as today’s NEC meeting would have nothing to do with leadership change, said the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba.

“The NEC meeting will not discuss any change in leaders. Rather, attention is focused on unity and reconciliation. The Caucus agreed that all congresses in the states and local government should be concluded between June and August this year.

“Caucus agreed on the extension of the constitution review committee of the party to accept new recommendations,” Ologunagba stated.
