Rivers: Wike, Fubara attend burial ceremony in Port Harcourt

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, attended a burial ceremony with FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, in Port Harcourt.

Hours earlier, Fubara and Wike attended a late-night peace meeting hosted by President Bola Tinubu at the presidential villa in Abuja.

On Saturday, the Minister’s Spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, shared in an X post that Wike was in Port Harcourt for the burial of his uncle.

Wike and Fubara have locked horns over political differences since 2023.

Their rift culminated in a crisis that led to a polarisation of the Rivers state legislature and the dismantling of the state’s assembly complex.

On March 18, 2025, Tinubu declared emergency rule in Rivers over the political crisis and the targeting of oil installations in the state.

The president also suspended Fubara and the Rivers lawmakers and installed a sole administrator to oversee the affairs of the state for an initial period of six months.
