PHOTOS: WOFAN Founder Salamatu Garba conferred with traditional title in Jigawa
The District Head of Aujara, Jahun Local Government Area. Jigawa State, Alhaji Aminu Dan Malam, has conferred the traditional title of Garkuwan Aujara on the Founder and Group Executive Board Chair of WOFAN, Dr Salamatu Garba.
The title was conferred on. Salamatu Garba, United Nations Peace Ambassador, on Saturday in Aujara, Jigawa State.
Alhaji Dan Malam said the honorary traditional title was conferred in appreciation of her consistent contributions to community development, women’s empowerment, and inclusive economic growth
He said the conferment of the title reflected the community’s appreciation of WOFAN’s impact in Jigawa State.
“WOFAN began its work in Jigawa around 2017, starting from Aujara, and since then the organisation has continued to transform lives and create opportunities for women, youths, and persons with disabilities,” he said.
Speaking earlier after granting approval to the conferment of the traditional title, the Emir of Dutse, Dr Muhammad Hamim Nuhu Sunusi, lauded WOFAN’s support to women youths, People With Disabilities (PWDs) and community development, which is positively impacting communities across many states.

In a remark, Jigawa State First Lady, Hajiya Amina Umar Namadi, described the traditional title as well deserved, adding, “Dr Salamatu Garba has devoted many years to supporting women, youths, and persons with disabilities, and this recognition reflects her sacrifices and impact.”
Reacting to the honour, Dr Garba expressed gratitude to the Emirate and the community. “This recognition is deeply meaningful to me because it comes from the people we serve,” she said.
“The support and encouragement of the Emir of Dutse gives us renewed strength to do more for women, youths, and persons with disabilities and it’s a further encouragement because the project objectives are also in line with the federal government’s new approved policy to support PWDs
