Women SME operators to benefit from $8m investment in Kano
The Investing on Women in Nigeria Programme has revealed that it will make an investment worth 8 million Canadian Dollars to support Small and Medium Enterprises that are run by women in Nigeria.
Disclosing this during a mandate presentation to selected women that will serve as gender champions drawn from public sector held in Kano, the Lead Investing in Women In Nigeria Program Mr Fuad Farouk Umar revealed that these women will also serves as advocates for women economic empowerment as they would be acting and supporting the empowerment of women in their different ministries.
He explained that under the project’s five-year duration, which is funded by Global Affairs Canada and implemented by Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund, there are 3 significant pillars where the project will be investing 8 million Canadian dollars on.
In her address Kano State commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and Disable Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani said the project is timely as it seeks to address the issue of inclusiveness for effective women economic empowerment in the state, adding that women contribute significantly to states and nation’ development, hence the need to empower them regularly.
