Professor Yilwatda is currently the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and was once a university lecturer. He is from Plateau State and was the APC’s candidate for governor in the 2023 elections.

His selection follows an agreement reached during a late-night meeting in Abuja between President Bola Tinubu and APC governors.
