Gov Yusuf’s appointee dedicates furniture allowance to support government’s education drive

In support of the education-driven agenda of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Director General of the Kano State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KASA), Kabiru Saidu Dakata, has dedicated his furniture allowance to the purchase of desks and chairs for Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Dakata, a girls’ secondary school in his community.

The gesture was announced during an event organised to mark the 63rd birthday of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, described by Mr Dakata as a champion of human capital development, knowledge promotion and social progress in Kano State.

Speaking before community leaders, teachers, students and other stakeholders, Mr Dakata said the decision was inspired by a desire to complement the governor’s ongoing efforts to reposition the education sector across the state.

According to him, education remains the foundation of meaningful development, stressing that the current administration has clearly demonstrated, through policies and projects, that investing in education is central to securing the future of Kano State.

He noted that while the government has a critical role to play in rebuilding and strengthening the education sector, individuals and communities must also take responsibility by supporting such initiatives in practical ways.

“The furniture allowance was meant for my personal comfort, but I asked myself what comfort could be greater than knowing that a girl-child can sit properly in class, learn with dignity and write comfortably,” he said.

SolaceBase reports that Dakata emphasised that the donation of school furniture was not meant to replace government efforts, but rather to complement them and demonstrate support for the governor’s vision for education.

He added that providing desks and chairs goes beyond material support, as it helps restore dignity to students, encourages teachers, and reinforces the importance of collective action in driving development.

The KASA Director General expressed hope that the gesture would inspire other well-meaning individuals and public office holders to support government initiatives, particularly in the education sector.

He dedicated the contribution to the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the students of GGSS Dakata, and teachers across the state, praying that such collective efforts would strengthen the foundation of education in Kano State.
