Zamfara imposes curfew over post-election violence

The Zamfara State Government on Tuesday imposed curfew on the state following post election violence that erupted in the ancient town earlier today.

The Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Dosara,  in a statement said the curfew would start from 8 pm to 6 am until peace is restored.

“The Government of Zamfara State has noticed with dismay, the wanton destruction and vandalisation of government and public property and assets and several innocent citizens are being inflicted with various degrees of injuries in the name of celebration of yesterday’s declaration of governorship election results,” the statement said.

According to the, lives and properties were destroyed during the process, as a result, there was the need to impose curfew to avoid further destruction.
