Zulum flags off construction of N5.8bn second flyover bridge in Maiduguri
Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno flagged-off the construction of a 600-meter flyover bridge at the “Borno Express’’ terminal area in Maiduguri on Saturday.
The project, the second of its kind in Maiduguri is to cost N5.8 billion.
The governor said the bridge would further decongest traffic gridlocks in the area and increase infrastructural development in the state capital.
“Government shall ensure prompt release of funds for the project.

“We enjoin the contractor to ensure good quality work as we are determined to provide more dividends of democracy for the people of Borno in our second tenure,’’ Zulum said.
A Chinese Company, Eighteenth Engineering Company (EEC) was awarded the contract for Borno’s second flyover.
The company won after a bidding process following documentation that was done at the State’s Ministry of Works Headquarters in Maiduguri.
Borno’s Commissioner of Works, Architect Isa Garba Haladu, signed contract agreement on behalf of Borno State Government while representative of the EEC signed for the Chinese company.
The project is targeted for completion before the end of this year, 2023, bearing any unforeseen challenge(s).
